Such a sanctuary you have created.  We came wondering if we would move in together in California, and thanks to time spent in your house-of-light, decided we would!  We are deeply grateful for the use of your space.  September, 2012

We loved our stay here - So peaceful - We felt like we came home.  We will be back. 2012

We really had a fantastic time.  Time to heal, ‘destress’ and take in the beauty of the landscape that is filled with the most beautiful clean, fragrant air!  You are living in paradise on Earth!  April 2012

Thank you for a few blessedly relaxed days.  We enjoyed the space and the jacuzzi.  November, 2011

Thank you for a lovely and comfortable stay!  We had a great time and feel way more relaxed than when we arrived.  This place is heavenly and your hospitality and friendliness goes above and beyond!  August 2011

You have a truly wonderful home, the ambience, attention to details, and your lovely gardens.  5 stars!!  We will definitely recommend your “House of Light” to family and friends.  April 2011

There are no real words to be able to express how perfect this trip was due to your hospitality. I will definitely plan another trip here as soon as I can and will be sure to stay longer and enjoy more of your company.  September 2010

Never take for granted the beauty of this place.  I can’t wait until I am in a place to simplify my life and enjoy Hawaii full time.  Thanks for sharing our very short visit with us and I can’t wait to come back – next time for longer.

Mahalo for having us!  Hale Kukui Ola is simply PERFECT!  The view is full of beautiful light and nature in its most splendid coat of many colors and textures. Our stay is sadly too short.  We know for next time to stay at least a full week!  So much to see and do here! Pele danced for us last night putting on an incredible light show.  The people are friendly and helpful.  You as hosts are so helpful, and very friendly too! If the weather changes,  drive 5 minutes and see how it is over the lava ridge !  It’s probably sunny, or not!  In all of our travels, we have found Hale Kukui Ola to be the MOST relaxing, peaceful, yet exciting place yet!!  Mahalo Nui Loa

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.  The space itself is beautiful but all the little extras made it amazing.  Fresh fruit, fresh flowers, spices, day pack, travel guides, all contributed to a really fantastic week.  The landscaping is gorgeous, loved the gem pebbles.

It was a pleasure staying in Hale Kukui Ola.  I can’t believe how in this one room and bathroom, I had everything  I could possibly need and more.  I realized how much simpler life would be if I could reduce the space I live in LA.  You arranged everything so well, provided plenty of towels (thank you) and since I forgot my shampoo and conditioner, I was thrilled to see that you provided that as well. All the people I passed by walking from your home to Kalani and all the folks at Kalani surprised me continuously with their warmth, friendliness and graciousness, starting with the two of you.

Thanks so much for helping us have a very enjoyable week.  This has been just great seeing, exploring & learning so many new things.  What an adventure for us.  The apartment has been perfect – your assistance and suggestions greatly appreciated.  Sure am glad you got the lava flowing again – what an amazing sight!

...the hosts with the most – delicadessa, finesse, data, creativity, great smiles & energy – you name it,they are prepared!  Great place!  Mahalo for every detail!

Mahalo!  The place is perfect.  You added all of the details to make the place feel like home for a few days – from sugar for my coffee to a dry beach towel to salad tongs.  Magnificent.  I recommend this place to others traveling to the Big Island.  You have a beautiful place!

Cozy Eastside studio comes with lava view

I visited the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii recently and had a very memorable time. I stayed in Hale Kukui Ola, a newly furnished studio apartment near the ocean and off of the scenic "Red Road."

The comfortable studio, which sleeps two, has a full kitchen, queen-sized bed, full-size sofa, stained concrete floors, travertine tile shower inside and a black rock-floored outdoor shower. It also has Wi-Fi and a CD stereo system. Outside, a lanai overlooks colorful tropical plants and flowers. You could also see the glow from the volcano's lava at night - it was spectacular.

The studio is within walking distance of the beautiful Kehena black sand beach and Kalani Honua Oceanside Resort, where they have healthy meals and offer pool, spa, sauna, yoga, massage and other cool workshops. My fave was "Ecstatic Dance" on Sunday mornings.
